Barney

B-Man

Barney is 16 and our most senior member of staff. He is more often than not the recipient of our employee of the week award and this is because he is just the best boy imaginable! His flaming locks and handsome wee face endear him to all who come into contact with.

Barney is a former pharmacy assistant cat and when the business changed hands as the owner sadly passed away Barney decided on a change of environment as he was extremely attached to his former boss and could no longer remain as it was just too hard on him.

Not ready to hang up his working boots just yet, Barney likes to rise early and after a quick breakfast at usually around 6.15am. likes nothing better than a nice stroll around his garden before taking on the day.

After B-man has checked that everything is as it should be, he delegates any and all tasks to myself or one of his work colleagues.    

See ..that boy gets away with murder as he is often caught sleeping on the job!

Barney enjoys a vast array of hobbies especially snacking, drinking water out of an actual glass, getting cuddles, sleeping, singing and sunbathing. Out of all these, watching football trumps the lot! Being a keen Liverpool fan going on 16 years, Barney never misses a game and would love nothing more than if they were to win the league. He has accepted that this isn’t going to happen under their current manager and will remain forever hopeful ..there’s always next year!

Ethel

Puffy

Ethel is going on 12 and our dream employee. She has an extraordinary joie de vivre and is effortlessly cool, charismatic and just a fun wee extrovert! The wee chatterbox of the team, Ethel is very much a team player and always has something to say for herself. She goes to great lengths to always make sure to look her best for her guests and can put a smile on just about anyone/cat’s face.  

Her bestie both at home and work is Winnie – who you will meet later. These two partners in crime have been lifelong friends and even like to take naps together. Neither snore so they don’t annoy one another and can work/sleep/play alongside one another in complete harmony.

Puffy as she is known on account of her luscious locks sometimes clashes with the other lads at work but any disagreements are usually resolved by Alley Kat Hotel’s HR department fairly quickly. Luckily, she doesn’t hold any grudges and can then happily get on with her day!

She loves nothing more than a good sing-song, getting petted, a good sing-song and most of all birdwatching is her all-time favourite thing to do. She doesn’t have one particular breed she likes, she just finds them all EXTREMELY fascinating.

Our wee Ethel is very athletic and likes to keep in shape by climbing, jumping, running but places a lot of value on her downtime too and takes regular catnaps.

Upon awakening, Ethel likes to start her morning biting yours truly’s feet! Similarly to my first caffeine shot of the day, this really seems to help wake her up!

She is a lady who very much knows what she wants and is just one of life’s fearless go-getters!

Declan

Decky

Decky or Declan, when he’s being bold is very much the bad boy of the team. He can be a handful at times but is an undeniable asset. He is always ready for fun, cuddles and is extremely affectionate in return! He just loves love. You could say he is just a bit misunderstood by his teammates. His penchant for stealing food gets him into a LOT of trouble and he is often being called into disciplinary meetings over his lack of self-control when it comes to mealtimes. He will think nothing of knocking off work early to run to the canteen to make sure he is the first in line. As you can imagine this does not always go down well with the others. Knowing he is skating on thin ice with them, wee Decky prefers to keep himself to himself as he is no dozer! He is simply a very hungry boy.

Decky is not really an outdoorsy type but instead prefers to chill inside. I’m not sure if this is to ensure he never misses a meal but he seems happy.

Not only is he a very clever boy but he is also a bit of a mammy’s boy and likes his cuddles watching the TV at night! Once he gets into a comfy position, he will start up a wee singsong session and loves nothing more than dozing off dreaming of God’s knows what!

Winnie

Winnebago

This beautiful feisty wee madam is 9 years old and is utterly adorable in every way. She is definitely the wee princess of the bunch but do not cross her as she will bite! She may be the smallest but this little lady takes no nonsense from the other staff members especially when it comes to her breaks. She will put them in their place without any qualms.. even her sister, Freddie holds no sway here.

When she and her sister first arrived they were both very quiet and timid but over the years she has really blossomed into a confident, contented wee adult. Her bestie, Ethel has helped enormously here as they just have this amazing affinity with each other and Ethel’s carefree attitude – or some might say cat-itude – has made her take herself less seriously and be able to chill out more!

Cute as a button, Winnie is extremely affectionate and loves a good soft headbutt and a daily massage.

 While her hobbies include sleeping, cuddling, singing and snacking of course, her all-time favourite thing is nature. Loving the outdoors, Winnie loves a good roaming session and admires all the beauty that nature has to offer. She can often be seen checking out the birds and chasing leaves!

Freddie

Freddie Bear

Definitely not identical, Winnie’s sister is the quietest of the gang. Some mistake her quiet nature for aloofness and she has been called the Queen of Sheba because of it! This is all a bit of an act though as Freddie is just a bit more introverted and set in her ways. She may give the impression of standoffishness, but that girl loves a good cuddle as much as the next cat ..just on her own terms! Wee Freddie Bear is a very caring soul and if you’re having a bad day, in any way upset or in a flap she senses it and will come stand by you to comfort you!

She can indulge in a bit of rule breaking like staying out and then swinging off the door handles late at night but she is truly the glue that holds the wee furry band together.

Her gentle mindset and funny vocalness are just adorable but she needs to just toughen up her act a wee bit as the others do walk all over her. There is such a thing Freddie as being too laid back – stop letting them eat your dinner!
